Composer’s Notes
'Anthophile' was inspired both by the current Summer season [at the time of writing], and the accompanying poem by Ingrid Goff-Maidoff. I love observing the trajectory of flowers throughout Spring, Summer, and Autumn - and particularly enjoy capturing these glimpses of beauty wherever I am, especially when in urban settings.

The lyrical horn melody represents the blossoming of hope through flowers and nature’s natural aptitude for regrowth, whilst the dramatic contrasting moods within the piece capture the extreme elements of nature which can crush and destroy these delicate moments at any moment.

'God spoke today in flowers' - as represented in Goff-Maidoff's poem - is a line of such simplicity and exquisite beauty, and conveys a message which I believe speaks to us all.
